Return To Ringette – Ringette Manitoba

Ringette 4 U

Ringette 4 U (R4U) is a Manitoba program that applies the principles of Canada's Long Term Athletic Development Model (LTAD). R4U is an instructor led ringette program focused on helping to develop athletic abilities and fundamental skills in children aged 3-8.

This program is a mixture of skill specific lessons and split ice games to expand the skill level of its participants while having even more games and exciting competition.

At the beginning of the year, each child is asssessed to make sure that they are entering into the ringette program at the right stage for them. All the lessons are designed to encourage participants to try new skills while having fun and playing appropriate games for their development.

R4U - Three Learning Stages

RED: This stage is for players who are primarily new ringette players that have never skated or who are just beginning to skate.  The focus of this stage is on learning skating skills while being introduced to ring skills and the game of ringette. In this stage players take skill specific lessons and play split ice games every ice time after the assessments.

PURPLE: This stage is for players who have all of the skills required to pass RED, but have not necessarily played ringette before. In this stage players take skill specific lessons and play split ice games every ice time after the assessments. Games are played on 1/2 with 4 players on each side. A goalie is introduced at this stage as well as some of the rules. Players rotate and make line changes every 3 minutes.

GREEN: This stage is for players who have all of the skills required to pass PURPLE, and are getting ready to play in the Winnipeg Ringette League. In this stage players rotate between taking a full 60 minute lesson and playing a 60 minute full ice game.
